La pierre de Beauchamps. L'appellation « pierre de Beauchamps » vient à l'origine d'une carrière qui n'est plus exploitée aujourd'hui. Réputée pour sa pierre aux nuances rouges, brunes et bleues, caractéristique du bâti du Sud-Manche, elle est également utilisée pour les pierres à faux. Dès la fin du XVIIIème siècle, les carrières de grès ont permis de faire prospérer le bourg, qui a connu son apogée au début du XXe siècle.

The sea is 9 km away, accessible by country roads. You can find popular large sandy beaches like in Hauteville-sur-Mer or Agon-Coutainville, or more wild beaches like in Annoville. At low tide, the sea recedes to leave 2 km of beach.

Siouville La Hague is one of the most beautiful surfing beaches in Normandy. The on-site surf club rents boards and wetsuits for €20: www.cotentinsurfclub.com. We have a catamaran (newcat 16); if you practice, we can discuss it. Besides that, catamaran, stand-up paddle, and sand yachting rentals are available in Hauteville-sur-Mer.
