Durant les guerres du Premier Empire, les cabanes Vauban servirent également aux gardes-côtes qui observaient les mouvements de navires ennemis. L'utilisation de signaux optiques (pavillons, fumées ou feux) alertait les postes situés à Granville ou au Mont-Saint-Michel.

Les cabanes Vauban sont au nombre de 3, elles sont entièrement en pierre, édifiées au bord de la falaise et composées d'une seule pièce. Elles se situent sur les communes de Carolles, Champeaux et Saint-Jean-le-Thomas.

Ces trois cabanes Vauban offrent une vue magnifique sur la baie du Mont-Saint-Michel.

Siouville La Hague is one of the most beautiful surfing beaches in Normandy. The on-site surf club rents boards and wetsuits for €20: www.cotentinsurfclub.com. We have a catamaran (newcat 16); if you practice, we can discuss it. Besides that, catamaran, stand-up paddle, and sand yachting rentals are available in Hauteville-sur-Mer.
