Construit en moellons et pierre de taille du pays, couvert de zinc pour résister au vent, il assure depuis 1856 le repérage pour les marins. Le phare est lié à l’histoire du port de Regnéville qui vit jadis le trafic annuel de plus de trois cents navires tant français, anglais que norvégiens.
L’établissement d’un phare à cet endroit fut décidé en 1848, les marins risquant de ne pas repérer le port durant les nuits sans lune. La communication étant difficile par mer et par terre, il fut nécessaire d’y adjoindre une habitation pour loger un gardien.

The sea is 9 km away, accessible by country roads. You can find popular large sandy beaches like in Hauteville-sur-Mer or Agon-Coutainville, or more wild beaches like in Annoville. At low tide, the sea recedes to leave 2 km of beach.

Spend an unforgettable day with friends or family canoeing down the Sienne from Quettreville-sur-Sienne to the sea at Hauteville-sur-Mer. The Sienne descent begins between fields (2-hour journey), continues through the magnificent Sienne Estuary (2.5-hour journey), and ends in the sea at Hauteville-sur-Mer.

Siouville La Hague is one of the most beautiful surfing beaches in Normandy. The on-site surf club rents boards and wetsuits for €20: www.cotentinsurfclub.com. We have a catamaran (newcat 16); if you practice, we can discuss it. Besides that, catamaran, stand-up paddle, and sand yachting rentals are available in Hauteville-sur-Mer.
