THEATRE ET COEUR HISTORIQUE DE CHERBOURG

D’un style éclectique à l'italienne, en vogue sous le Second Empire, le théâtre construit en 1881 témoigne de l’apogée de la ville. Il est l’œuvre de l’architecte, Charles de Lalande, concepteur des théâtres parisiens « des Nouveautés » et de « la Renaissance ». L’édifice fait face à la fontaineplace du Généralde Gaulle, installéeen 1895, qui figureles quatre saisons,accompagnées dedauphins, poissons ettêtes de faunes.
