Le Tue-Vaques, nom du petit train de la ligne Cherbourg - Barfleur, inauguré le 8 juillet 1911, est ainsi nommé car il avait la réputation de tuer les vaches qui divaguaient le long de la ligne. Une locomotive tirait 6 wagons mixtes de 1er et 2e classes, pouvant accueillir entre 55 et 59 voyageurs. Le viaduc mesure 242.4 mètres de long sur 32 mètres de haut et 5 mètres de large. Ses 20 arches enjambent la vallée, campées bien solidement grâce à leur 7 000 m3 de granite taillé.
