Suite à la bataille du 13 juin 1944 et aux bombardements dévastateurs qui ont suivi, le bourg est détruit à 90%. Sa reconstruction durera de 1948 à 1960. Au n°34, vous trouverez la première pierre de la reconstruction posée en 1948. Avant 1944, la ville comptait deux églises, après leur destruction, une seule fut reconstruite ici en 1947. Son architecte, Le Sauter, s’inspira de l’architecture romaine. Le clocher culmine à 33 m et est visible à 6 km aux alentours. Cet édifice très original est labelisé « Patrimoine du 20e siècle ».

Siouville La Hague is one of the most beautiful surfing beaches in Normandy. The on-site surf club rents boards and wetsuits for €20: www.cotentinsurfclub.com. We have a catamaran (newcat 16); if you practice, we can discuss it. Besides that, catamaran, stand-up paddle, and sand yachting rentals are available in Hauteville-sur-Mer.
