Afin de protéger Cherbourg, Napoléon 1er fait édifier, entre 1801 et 1806, 12 forts entre la Hougue et la Hague. Une batterie semi-circulaire de 35 mètres de diamètre, armée de deux bouches à feu, est construite sur le mont de Rouen au cap Lévi. Le fort ne sera pas terminé et il sera démilitarisé en 1875. Il est racheté par la famille Dumas-Vence, qui en fera un théâtre. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'industriel Félix Amiot l'acquiert pour y recevoir sa clientèle de prestige.
Aujourd'hui, il est transformé en chambres d'hôtes.

Siouville La Hague is one of the most beautiful surfing beaches in Normandy. The on-site surf club rents boards and wetsuits for €20: www.cotentinsurfclub.com. We have a catamaran (newcat 16); if you practice, we can discuss it. Besides that, catamaran, stand-up paddle, and sand yachting rentals are available in Hauteville-sur-Mer.
